I have it on good authority that Charlotte has been eating in case anyone is worried.

  • Hi Gary,
There's a saying I once heard that goes something like this: "People won't always remember what you said, and people won't always remember what you did, but people will always remember how you made them feel."
I've been reading all the beautiful things people have to say to you and it's obvious you had an impact on many, many people. I'm remembering when you resigned from the JCC and they had that big party for you and I think you told me 200 people came, and there were speeches, and there was an outpour of love. I remember you crying while watching the video of that night's event. It's a real testament when people treat you the same way they do whether you are sick or well. It shows they didn't wait until the last minute to say they love you or to tell you what you mean to them. I really admire people like that (I, of course, am one of those people :) It seems like most of your friends become a part of your family, at least I have always felt that way.
As you know, I always remember what you say, and I always remember what you do, but most importantly, I always remember how you make me feel: Important.

    Erin
Charlotte- You are constantly in my thoughts and prayers.

  • Charlotte- If Gary's illness is foremost in the hearts and minds of his friends who love him, we can only imagine what it must be like for you and the rest of the family. Please know that our thoughts, love and prayers are with all of you at this time. You need to take care of yourself....one Jewish mother to another...rest, eat well, be good to yourself so that you have the strength to be Gary's support.

Gary--we're always rooting for you. You always find a way to land on your feet so if anyone can find a way to come through this, it's you. Never stop fighting...remember your wife, your children, your beautiful grandchildren...and all the rest of us who love you and need/want you around for a long time.

Refuah shlayma, dear friend...have a restful, easy night.

    Love, Lillian and Ira

  • Gary has had such a huge impact on so many people and in ways he might not even realize. For example, he introduced me to my college roomate Erin. We both helped eachother make it through our first year of college. We both might have dropped out if it weren't for each other's support. If Gary hadn't introduced me to Erin and I didn't have her support and I dropped out of school I might not have met my husband and I might still be living at my parents house eating lipton cup of soups and watching General Hospital. And Erin, well if she hadn't been introduced to me through Gary she would never have met her husband, who I introduced to her, and she might have given up on love and decided to sell her body for money, but failing that endevour because well, quite frankly, who would buy?, she decided to bury herself under her covers for the rest of her life. That could have been our miserable outcomes if Gary hadn't introduced us to each other years ago. But he did and our lives and the lives of our husbands and unborn children (who might in fact find the cure for all types of cancer one day) have Gary to thank. Gary has had a huge impact on all the people around him, and even the people not around him.

  • Dear Gary,
I'm finding more and more that "gorgeous" is trying to keep up with my witty blogs, even copying some of my ideas! While I did find her comments about endearing her comments about me selling my body hysterical,I might only assume that her negative retort is due to her realization that maybe you got confused one day, maybe after falling over your leaf blower, and accidentally called her gorgeous when you meant to call me that. She told me my nickname could be "cute." I have to think about it.
Charlotte just called to wish me a happy birthday. With all that's going on she called.
All my love to you both and Gary-win this.
    Love, Erin- age 27.

  • Dear Charlotte and Gary...Art and I just found out. Last time we saw Gary was in September at Jimmy's eating a hot dog. We all go back so far together; so many memories, so many good times and a few bad ones too. Our prayers and thoughts are with you.

We love you both, Norma and Art

  • I thought about Gary all the way home from work yesterday and what flashed in my mind was how wonderful he was when I went through a difficult time--back stuff.etc. and I felt safe enough to have a breakdown in front of him(of course he would never let me live it down)---I will be eternally grateful for his love and friendship- love love love
